At ENSA there are no typical examinations. 

The examinations at ENSA have nothing in common with those you may know from primary school, middle school or secondary school. 

At ENSA there are 2 types of examinations:
* continuous assessments,
* bilans. 

== Continuous assessment ==

The continuous assessment is a method of evaluating students throughout the semester. 

This means that instead of having a final exam, you will have exercises to do throughout the semester. 

Assessments are based on specific tests, individual interviews with teachers, individual or group homework and course attendance. 

The teachers observe how you work throughout the semester, and at the end complete an individual evaluation sheet. 

In the individual evaluation sheet they give you a mark based on your work.

The bilan is a compulsory examination organised at the end of each semester, which enables you to gain 4 ECTS credits. 

You have to create a small exhibition of the work you have produced during your semester at ENSA Dijon. 

You should also show sources of inspiration on a table by displaying books and catalogues of the artists who have inspired you. 

=== What does a bilan look like? ===

The bilan is an oral presentation based on the display of your work and the reference table with the sources that have inspired you. 

First, you present your work. 

Secondly, the jury asks you questions about your work which you must answer. 

The length of this presentation varies from year to year:
* 1st year: 10 to 15 min
* 2nd year: 20 min
* 3rd year: 30 min
* 4th and 5th years: 40 min 

Bilans are public, but you can ask not to have anyone present if you wish. 

=== What is the composition of a jury? ===

The jury is composed of 3 to 5 people: your coordinator and other teachers. 

The composition changes each semester. 

You will not have the same jury during the first semester and the second semester. 

The composition of the juries is posted on the school's Pedagogy notice boards.
