CVEC

CVEC, what is it?

The CVEC (Contribution de vie étudiante et de campus) is a tax every student must pay each year to be able to enroll in a course.

It is designed to improve campus living conditions for students.

The CVEC, what is it for?

The purpose of the CVEC is to support students' social, health, cultural and sporting activities.

All students can benefit from actions financed by the CVEC, either through their school or through the Crous, depending on the action and the region.

The Crous are responsible for collecting the CVEC, via the https://cvec.etudiant.gouv.fr/ portal, and then redistributing it to schools, student associations and the Crous themselves for student life initiatives: events, activities, investment...

Who needs to pay for it?

All students enrolled in an initial course of study at a higher education establishment must obtain a certificate of payment or exemption from the Contribution de vie étudiante et de campus (CVEC) prior to enrolment.

The following are exempt from paying the CVEC:

  • refugee students,
  • students benefiting from subsidiary or temporary protection,
  • students registered as asylum seekers and entitled to remain in France,
  • French government grant holders and regional health and social training grant holders.

How to pay the CVEC?

You must pay the CVEC before registering with a higher education establishment on messervices.etudiant.gouv.fr.

You can do so starting from May for the 2023/2024 academic year.

To pay, you must...

  • be registered at MesServices.etudiant

How do I apply for exemption from the CVEC?

Exemption is automatic on the website once you have received a conditional grant notification.

However, it can happen that you are required to register for a course before you have received a conditional grant notification.

In this case, you must pay the CVEC, and then request reimbursement from CROUS.

This can happen when you apply for a grant for the first time.

I am a refugee. How do I apply for exemption from the CVEC?

To apply for CVEC exemption by being a refugee, you must...

  • to have your temporary protection,
  • to be registered at MesServices.etudiant.
